Every Fraser Valley wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and colleague has been affected by the disease, directly or indirectly, and probably more than once.
The Crystal Gala Foundation is based in Abbotsford, BC, but serves the people of the Fraser Valley, from Surrey and Langley to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Hope to Harrison Hot Springs, Agassiz, Mission, and Maple Ridge. The Foundation, made up of a group of dynamic women from all walks of life, meets monthly around a kitchen table, and has one goal in mind: raising money to help promote and achieve breast health and support the women and families who suffer the effects of breast cancer.
To date, the Crystal Gala Foundation has raised more than $1.25M, thanks to our generous sponsors, donors, and supporters.

Highly textured mixed media with copper leaf, hand made papers from around the world as well as 21 butterflies hidden and in plain sight, one for each year since 1991 that the Breast Cancer Society was founded
by Janelle Hail.
In the center are words of inspiration:
"When you are about to leap off into the darkness from all the light that you know 'Faith' is knowing one of two things will happen....there will be something solid for you to land on, or you will be taught to FLY."
"A journey of life begins as a butterfly emerges. Appearing fragile,
gentle, vunerable, leaving darkness,
in hope of finding warmth and light.
It displays faith in the dawning of a new day and all that is yet to be
Highly textured mixed media, using hand made papers from around the world as well as gold leaf, with the word 'Believe', used in various fonts and sizes.
In 2011, I decided to donate one of my gold leaf abstracts to this wonderful cause. I was thrilled with the success and sale of this piece, and the fealing was unforgetable, so I decided to make it a series of 4, "Believe", (2011) "Faith", (2012) "Hope" (2013) and "Courage" (2014).
After the huge success and sale of the Second painting, "Faith",
I decided that even after "Courage" and "Hope", I will continue to support this wonderful cause every year for the Crystal Gala. The feeling I was left with is truly hard to compare.
